Went to the Museum of Science

Here is a pic of Nate and AJ prepped for the "Hurricane Experience". We were blown with very strong winds! Austin opted out. AJ loved it. Nate's ear muffs flew off (and it was LOUD in there)- and he started screaming and punched me in the face!

thank you

Thank you for all the beautiful flowers for my birthday.....I got purple roses and lavender flowers with a teddy bear from Austin, AJ, Nato, Mom and Dad. A wonderful spring bouquet with yellow roses, carnations, mums and daisies from Mike and a smiley face cup with red, white, yellow and blue spring flowers from Les. The house smells great! Grandpa and I are going to the steakhouse at Harrahs tonight for a FREE meal. We'll be thinking of all of you as we enjoy our steaks and prime rib.

Thanks again

Today's kid-isms..

These are the shoes AJ asked for when we went shoe shopping today.... cute, huh?
We went to Longhorn for dinner tonight. Austin asked what I was eating and I said, "ribs.. I think cow ribs". So Austin explains, "well, they get a cow, then open him on the side, then take out the ribs, then put it on a truck, then bring it here (to Longhorn), then they put salt and pepper on it, then cook it, then bring it out on a plate and then it's ... CHICKEN!"

Where I found the baby...

You are feeling very sleepy...

I didn't capture Austin or Nathan sitting still, but A.J. was more than willing to nap adorably on the couch one day.

Progress Report

Well, June 30th was the day that Austin reached 1800mg in the Peanut Study. It's a milestone... it's his max dose and he will remain on this for 1 year.

We received Austin's RAST (blood test) results today. For reference, anything 2 or more is considered a "allergic". The smaller the number, the better.
  • Sept 2006, Austin's score was 79.
  • January 2008, Austin's score was 27.6
  • June 2008, Austin's score is 12!!!

This is amazing progress. It should also be noted that in June Austin tested NEGATIVE on all his skin prick tests- even the 100% peanut protein spot.

We've been informed that after our 4 month followup in October, Austin will be switched to an actual FOOD that has peanuts in it- a Reeses PB cup, Peanut M&M's, or Peanut Butter M&Ms. When I told Austin about this, he cried. As you can expect, he's scared of peanuts. He's been programmed all his life to avoid them, and now he's being told to eat it every day. Over the course of the next few months, we'll work on de-programming him.

This is another wonderful day!

You've had the kids all this time and can't post one lousy picture? Gee, thanks.

Look what I found!

Here is a link to the cartoon short that appeared before WALL*E. It's hilarious, but probably won't be around for long.

Long Day at the Movies...

We went and saw the 2:00 show of WALL*E. Fantastic movie with an absolutely hilarious short little cartoon in front of it. A.J. got home and went right down for a nap. Dinner time rolls around, and, well...you know how it goes.

Independence Day Eve Shenanigans

So I snapped a few pics and shot a couple of movies. Here's update number one from Austin and A.J.'s Missouri Adventure: Part I: Episode I: The Schroeder Incident

Grandma & The Gang

Here's a picture of Grandma and the boys before she, Austin, and AJ left for St. Louis yesterday. Apparently, Austin and AJ are doing well, but we're not sure, because they were too busy playing yesterday to talk with us on the phone...

Ok.. sorry

Sorry that I don't have any good pix ready from Austin's birthday. I've spent the last 7 hours building this lego shit (375 pieces ALL BY MYSELF... awww ya):

Anyways, here's a pic of the army cake. It was chocolate and way too big and delicious!

We DO have pictures of actual children, but they exist in the digital camera (vs. my cell phone), so Dave'll have to upload, download, post, configure, and massage the fricking pix onto the site. Sorry.. I'm too lazy and I've STILL got some Bionicle homework to do... sigh.

Just Silly

The pix of AJ and Nate are of them playing birds. AJ got this idea that we can put the booeys over our shoulders and flap around. AJ was a white bird, Nate a blue bird, and AJ said I was a cardinal (with the red booey).
I tried to get a pic with Ozzy- but he's a boy, so this is the closest I could get to a simple smile.

AJ's legos

So I told AJ today that Grandma was growing tomatoes in her garden... so we built grandma's house out of legos and he added a garden. These pics of are of lego grandma feeding her lego garden next to her lego house.

Oh, and AJ said, "my grandma's house has wheels!" (the lego one didn't, so it wasn't an exact replica)

Goofy hair.

If You Can't Go to the Tornadoes, Have the Tornadoes Come to You

So I traveled all over creation yesterday (June 5) to try and hunt some tornadoes. Unfortunately I came up dry. There was one very promising storm in Wichita that even prompted a warning, but nothing ever came of it.

Then today, I caught one about 30 minutes from home. Unfortunately, the pictures don't show the tornado very well. The first one was just as it seemed to be dying out, and the next two are of the rotating wall cloud as it passed over the road. When I first pulled off to the side of the road, the tornado actually passed between me and the sun, and that was a very cool thing to see. That is also when I saw the swirling debris at the ground.

Hmm.

AJ: Mommy, do you know what 'farted' means?

Me: What? I don't know that word...

AJ: It means you burped in your pants.

Roast Beef...

Here's a pic of Nate. If you can't tell from the pic, he's doing what he does every night. He's finished eating, so he spit out a piece of chewed up roast beef and balanced it on his head.

Today..

Nothing major is going on here. Yesterday was Dave and my 10 year anniversary... yawn.

Austin has another loose tooth! The one right next to the one that fell out!!!

We went swimming today and I got a couple mediocre shots, as seen here.
Nathan has taken up what I call "the Springer" which is exactly what it sounds like. When he doesn't get what he wants, he acts like a guest on Jerry Springer who has been told that he now has genital herpes from the tranvestite nun that he- the guest- once let ...... anyways- he throws up his arms up in the air, screams wildly, runs around then flops himself down in an emotionally exhausted heap of disbelief. It's awesome.

AJ remains a kiss ass. He's all sugar and spice- but I'm not falling for it so easily anymore. Don't get me wrong, I DO fall for it...just not as easily.

Back... with success- 1500mg

Austin's back. He is now on 1500mg daily for 2 weeks, then 1600mg the next two weeks. It was a very long day. Anyways, here are some pix. We had a very long wait in AR for the return flight- so were clowning around... and the other pic is Austin on the plane. He's very serious about reviewing the safetly info with the crew before we take off.

Off again..

Austin and I are off to Arkansas again tomorrow (June 2nd). This should be a simple dose increase- no shots, no bloodwork. We're scheduled to return tomorrow night at midnight...

We will status you soon.

Rain Dance!

It finally rained. Austin was scared of the thunder... so I thought we should go out and play in the water and do a rain dance!

My big boy!

Austin lost his first tooth this morning... awwww! I think I'm gonna cry.
