Dad ran a 5k this Saturday and we all went out to cheer him on.

Nate clowning around.

Showing off his big boy underpants. (Sunday)

The school did a "Pinwheels for Peace" project. Oz and AJ show off their creations.

Showing off! He's so proud!

Nathan's Wish List

Right now Nathan is really into Blue's Clues. I can't promise this will be the case in 3 months time.

Nate loves the Color Wonder sets (markers).

Nate also loves numbers and letters.

LeapFrog Text and Learn $25 (http://www.toysrus.com/)

Play doh- extruders and scissors

Sorry this list is short... he's 2 and a half and all he really asks for is milk and candy.

Captain Underpants Extra Crunchy Book o' Fun volume 1 and/or 2- or some such potty humor book with pix/cartoons. Reading level 1st-2nd grade. The other Captain Underpants will be good, too- even if it's 'too hard' right this second.

See notes on AJ's re: Nintendo DS. I'll add to the list if I can figure out anything else they want.

Austin's big, like in size 8 for shirts. Size 10 seems big, but 8 is probably an exact fit (better to go one up?) For his long pants (for school), he's in an 8 and it's an exact fit.

http://www.toystogrowon.com/sku254 ... SOOO CUTE!

AJ Wish List

Battleship (the classic game- not electronic or fancy)

"Guess Who?" (board game)

AJ likes Bakugan now. I don't know exactly what that translates to in terms of toys, but he got a board game and really seems to like it.

AJ also likes electronics. He just found Dave's old cell that doesn't have minutes on it and he's having a ball pretending to text and playing the games. Santa will probably be bringing a Nintendo DS for each of the 2 big boys. This system has tons of games and accessories that can be added on. We don't know exactly what we're getting them yet, so don't commit yet. Just know that there are other options that will open up when we get closer and decide for sure which game system and game they're getting from Santa.

AJ's a size 6/7 for shirts. I don't think he needs long pants.

Nathan Lately

Messing with Austin's Legos

Trying to put his shoes on by himself!!

"C is for Caterpillar"

I love the facial expressions... What the hell is that about?

AJ & School Last Week

This is what AJ made at school for the book "If you give a mouse a cookie". The first page says, "If you give a mouse a cookie, he'll want a glass of milk to go with it".

This is the first book AJ checked out of the school library.
This is what AJ picked out of the treasure box for being good all week!
AJ had a party for his new bird Squeaky. Here he is holding Daddy's invitation. He made it all by himself and the pictures on the side invite Dad to play Bakugan (a board game) and come for presents.
This is just one of the decorations AJ made and hung in his room for the party

Walmart Lego Build #2

It's a pencil holder. I personally think it lacks any creativity and/or use, but at least it's not a Lego Ashtray.

It Only Took 3 Months

The RAST bloodwork Austin submitted in June came back this week. Here's the full history (lower is better; 2 or less is considered 'not allergic')
  • 9/2006 Score of 79
  • 1/2008 Score of 27.6
  • 6/2008 Score of 12
  • 11/2008 Score of 11.3 (this is when he went to actual peanut m&ms)
  • 6/2009 Score of 8.37
  • 8/2009 Pending

It's good news the number is lower, but it doesn't really change anything for him. Just thought I'd post it bc it's interesting (to me, anyways).

"Motive"

The only reason I took this picture tonight is because Nate was going stir crazy at jitz and this was the only way to get him to stand still for one second.

Pix from Monday

Nate watches a movie at Jiu Jitsu with a friend.

Nate drew this and said, "yook-a Mama... it's ME!"

Pix from Sunday

We got a whole box of diapers that turned out to be defective. The stupid tape keeps ripping and diapers and contents fall down... gross. Anyways, we've been putting big boys on over the diaps to hold them in place. Look how cute! He's all 'Thomas'd up...

Dave was cutting the grass on Sunday. I lured the boys out with promises of popsicles. I didn't get any pix of AJ outside bc he had to go in to poo.

Guess What Nathan Bought Today...

What's in Nathan's shopping bag???

Why it's his very first set of big boy undies!
We went with Mickey Mouse, as Nathan LOVES the little rodent. We haven't started potty training yet, but we're hoping to encourage leaving diapers behind by bringing Mickey Mouse Clubhouse to Nate's butt!

Ozzy's New Allergist

As we think you all know, we've pretty much decided to quit the peanut study. In light of the hazelnut/pistachio situation, 'curing' Oz of the peanut thing adds nothing more. That being said, our pediatrician strongly suggested that we establish a relationship with a local allergist for Oz. We were very reluctant to do it, as we feel an allergist would bring almost nothing to the table in our situation. Hey, our pediatrician can order any future blood tests and can also write prescriptions for EpiPens. Whatever.

We decided to try this doctor- Dr. Kalik- on referal from Oz's regular doc. Honestly, going in the appointment seemed like a huge waste of time. All this new guy could possibly do that was helpful is be willing to administer a food challenge for the hazelnuts, and I was pretty sure he'd look at Oz's numbers and just say 'no way'.

The doctor was nice- he spent some real time with us understanding what we'd been through and actually put some thought into what we needed. Austin's hazelnut RAST is 10.8 (again 2+ is considered allergic). It was a crazy long shot asking for the food challenge... but the guy said that we could try IF Austin first passes a hazelnut skin test!!

This is a pretty big deal. We can learn a lot about this new allergy, but this was the only way to do it. Hopefully the reaction is mild if any- but no matter what, at least we'll have an idea what Austin's really facing.

Appointment is set for Oct 26th.

**Just as a side note, the folks in Little Rock said that not only would they NOT consider doing a food challenge on the hazelnuts for Oz, they also wouldn't advocate for him to have it done elsewhere. In other words, they pretty much said that they would not help him at all here. Austin continues his 13 m&m's a day, sometimes with mouth itching. While we have decided against continuing with LR, they don't officially know it yet.

Nathan's Artwork

I know I've already posted a pic like this of a man Nathan drew... I'm just still impressed, so here's another one!

Life with Squeaky

When AJ went to school this week, he wanted to make sure Squeaky didn't get loose. He put a leash on him and tied him to the bed.

This was last night. AJ's still sleeping on the floor so Squeaky can fit beside him.

Igor

This just cracked me up.

Our Weekend.

On Sunday we went to the Aquarium.

This is Nathan looking at Nemo.

AJ with a 'Spoonbill' in the background.

Austin and a microscope.

On Saturday we went to the Science Museum.

They had this one Lego statue. The boys still got very excited.
