Boys did well this first semester. Austin even got a Citizenship Award!

It was "The Great American Teach-In" and a hair stylist came to AJ's class and....

Nate drew this all by himself. Dave asked him to draw a happy person. The circle on his head is hair.

(On his own- without instruction) AJ folded a piece of paper, traced his hand and cut this out. Then he colored it with a white crayon and drew eyes. It's a spider and it's genius!

Credit Card Rate Increases

Just FYI...

I got a letter from Citibank a couple days ago. I've been with them for 19 years with a VERY good payment history. They said they're raising my rate from 5.9% to 19% for no reason.

I can opt out- which means payoff my balance and close my account by my card expiration date OR
I can just deal with the rate hike.

We're gonna close out that account. Just a warning that the credit card companies are coming with this. It's probably a good idea to try to bring balances down as much as possible as quickly as possible to avoid this new loansharking trend. Just wanted to warn y'all!

A Sight to Behold

Last night Austin slept in his own bed the whole night. I stayed with him (as per his request), but he did it. Tonight he seems dodgy about it, so he's back in our room. He's trying his best, no need to push too hard.

Happy Veterans Day.

We bought a cake to honor Dave on this Veterans Day. Why a football ice cream cake that looks like a giant frozen turd? Because there was not ONE item in the bakery suitably decorated for this holiday. Can you believe that? So we went with football bc Austin said "Dad likes football" and bc it was the most American themed ice cream cake they had. Sheesh.

And yes, we sang "Happy Veterans Day to YOU... cha cha cha!" and the cake was delicious.

We've been playing outside a lot lately. Nate's got road rash on both knees!

And before anyone suggests it, we've already made the "long pants rule" for playing in the driveway.

So the boys were playing in the water spraying off that Sheikra roller coaster. Nate kinda looked like he wanted to get wet, but kept wandering off right before the coaster would hit the water. AJ decided to "help" Nathan. (Turns out, Nate actually didn't want to get wet- and please forgive my language).

This second video is Nate's handiwork. This is what he was doing when he was supposed to be going to sleep last night. (If you can't make out the image, it's Austin asleep in bed).

Bike Day.

We had lunch on the driveway today because...

Austin got a new bike with no training wheels!

Here, Dad helps adjust the seat and handlebars.

AJ inherits Austin's old bike. I ziptied a basket on the handlebars so Squeaky could ride with AJ. Don't worry, there's a seatbelt I built into the basket for the penguin.

Austin's still not "riding" a 2 wheeler, but he made a REALLY great effort today. He's very excited and motivated. All day long he asked Dad to help him learn.

OMG He's Playing with LEGOS!!

Austin hasn't played with Legos for a few weeks. He said he didn't really like them anymore. Today he built this and I was SO happy!
