Lunch with AJ
I had lunch with Oz, too... but I had to leave early to get Nate and forgot to take a picture! :(

Status on Nate-o
Nate's making great progress with his reading. He's also still fully INTERESTED in letters and numbers, so it helps so much that he is motivated. He's loving school, but I really think he needs to already be in Kinder. Can't change that, so we'll just roll with it.
Nate started soccer a couple of weeks ago. Dave said he loved it the first week. When I asked Nathan how he liked it after the 2nd time, he said, "I loved it a little".
LegoLand Florida is opening up in a few days. We're going to take the boys one day during Thanksgiving break. Hopefully the weather's nice and it's not too busy. They're all VERY excited to go.

Status on AJ
AJ's doing awesomely in school this year. He actually told me he LIKES to go to school now. Not only that, when he's doing his homework, he really tries to make everything right! I can't believe it. This is the same kid I had to drag out of bed kicking and screaming every morning for 2 years. This is the same kid I had to fight every day to do his homework and he'd just resist and resist.. Let's all hope and pray this is going to be his attitude with school and work from now on.
I don't need to work on AJ's eating. AJ eats the best of everyone in this house!! What I need to work with AJ on is his frigging room. He's a total slob. Oh well.

Status on Austin
Austin has improved considerably in moodiness, anxiety and academics. He still refuses to sleep or shower in his own room, but his overall attitude is more at ease. Last week he did not have a vocabulary test, but he did score a 91% on his math test. I didn't even KNOW there was going to be a math test- so there was no special studying or anything at home! YAY!
On another note, I've decided that he needs to eat better. He gets breakfast at school and tells me he always chooses Cinnamon Toast Crunch. That's mediocre, at best. He packs his lunch and makes the usual kid lunch- sandwich, chips, Capri Sun or something. Does he EAT it? I don't know. Dinner is almost always a challenge to get him to eat... and if he does eat, it's not very much.
So now I wake up earlier and try to make a REAL breakfast. Eggs and bacon, pancakes and sausage, waffles, oatmeal... He's also not allowed to have milk until after he finishes his food. I sit in front of him and make sure he's eating at breakfast and dinner. And try to either make something he likes somewhat, or at least have something he likes available (like I made a batch of meatballs and froze them in single portions).
I'm not sure all this food stuff will make any difference in his anxiety, but I know he needs to learn to feed himself or he'll get sick. He's a growing boy, you know.

General Update for the Week
Nathan is halfway thru his antibiotics and is back at school. He still seems a little cranky and off, but that might be bc he has to get used to going back to school and is tired.
This week AJ got a 95% on his reading test, but his spelling test results are not yet in. AJ is really REALLY happy to be able to stay in Ms. Antinori's class. His whole attitude toward school and AGP is much better this year. I hope it's a maturity thing and it stays with him.
Austin managed to get 100% on his vocab test and a 100% on his AR (reading) test. This is a HUGE improvement over the past few weeks. On Friday morning he was so spazzy and hyper going into school that I had to actually hold his hand and physically separate him from AJ to keep him calm. By the time he came home from school yesterday, he just seemed much calmer, relaxed, not as agitated and out of zone. It was literally like one person went into school, and Austin finally came back home.
I found out from him today that they moved the kid that Oz has been saying he doesn't like- the same one that told him the story that upset him so much on Friday September 2nd. That's right when this huge slide began to happen. I'm not sure there is a connection between the proximity of the kid to Oz and the behavior and academics issues, but it's at least something to talk to his doc about. Austin assures us that there is no bullying, no teasing... he just simply doesn't like the kid. I wonder if that kid is just a constant reminder to Austin of his fears and Austin just could not perform with him there. I don't know.
I'm hoping and praying that relaxed/comfortable Austin is back to stay. I've really missed him. He's not back in his bedroom and we're not pushing him to go back. We figure when he feels ok, he'll know. Pushing him over anxiety stuff has never, ever helped him overcome anything in the past.
That's the poop for now. The next few days and weeks will be very important for us as Austin's progress (or lack of) will determine if anything needs to be changed. We're really hoping this kind of passes on it's own and we don't need to make any changes.

GRRRR.....

BTW, this weeks spelling words (AJ): rat, mat, name, pal, tame, mad, man, came, male & pal. Awesome!
