Funny things..

AJ says, "Mommy, you know that ghost-es (spelled like he said it) are dead?"
Me: yup
AJ: Ghost-es are just with sheets on their heads..
Me: yup
AJ: Hey, maybe on halloween I can just put my booey on my head and be a ghost..
Me: But then you'd have to cut a hole in him.
AJ: Maybe I could just put a band-aid on him...Nah, I can see with my eyes closed.. (proceeds to prance around the house with his booey on his head)

Later:
AJ asks for a banana.. there's a sticker on it that says, "I (heart) lunch boxes"
AJ says: hey, my banana has a heart on it! my banana loves me! My banana says, "I want to get in your BELLY AJ!!"

Then there's Austin:
Austin: Daddy, when I grow up will I get a beard?

And Nathan is a soccer protege! He rolls balls and chases them saying, 'kick kick kick!' and can kick the ball while it's in motion. Then he picks it up and says, 'BALL!', rolls it, and says 'kick, kick, kick!'. He can entertain himself for a full hour like this. SOOO CUTE!

Lee Cruise 2008!

Ok, my family has decided to go on another Lee Cruise... We have 61 people signed up. The cruise will be in September and is about $280pp INCLUSIVE of taxes and all the stupid charges. This is a VERY good price... the cruise line's cut is about $125pp of that for 3 days of entertainment, housing, and food.

You all are invited to come. It's a cruise going to the RCCL private island Coco Cay and Nassau, I think. Really doesn't matter where it goes- same shit, different island. It will be fun.. please consider coming.

Snow Baby

AJ was cranky today..

He was making a list of all the things he hated.. The list was comprised of pretty much everything on God's green earth except birds. Then he says, "I HATE everyone in this town... except Grandma"

Then I asked if he wanted to go to McDonald's and get a happy meal... to which AJ responded, "NO! I want a MAD MEAL!"

Rainbarrel is closed...

Just wanted you all to know that Rainbarrel closed successfully today. Tracy, our agent, went over last Thursday to just check on things before the sellers last walk-through. Turns out the basement was starting to flood bc our sump-pit overflowed and the pump failed to come on... she contacted a plumber friend and got it fixed for free!! That was a close call.

Anyways that appears to be the final step in this long process. While we lost money on the deal, we're very happy to have that stressor gone. Thanks again to all for the help- both emotionally and with the children during the pack and move. It was a long, hard road and would've been unbearable without your support.

How AJ fell asleep tonight..

Austin's doing really well. Walking perfectly upright and playing again! His thumb sucking thumb is all dry and crusty from the lack of use, but all else is great.

Nathan's been sick the past 2 days with the poops, pukes, and general malaise. He missed swim class on Friday due to his illness. I think he got sick when I found him splashing around in an unflushed pee toilet... gross.

AJ... well, as you can see from the pic, is doing well. He's started wanting to sleep in our bed again. We let him bc we figure there are many MANY years ahead of us that are left for him to despise us. Once he realizes that we're totally uncool, he'll go in his room, dress himself in all black, and never speak to or of us again.

Nirvana... almost.

So Austin discovered that he could reach his thumb-sucking thumb today... but after 2 seconds, he spits it out and angrily exclaims, "BUT IT DOESN'T TASTE THE SAME!!"

We were sooooo close!

Unexpected Surprise (is that redundant?)

I was sitting around on Saturday morning, enjoying doing nothing for a change. Suddenly, my phone rings!

Who could it be?

None other than Shelby Politte (now Shelby Ingle, of course). She was calling to say hey, and that her and Sarah Storms (now something else, but I don't remember her new last name) just happened to be at the Lake of the Ozarks having a little mommy-getaway weekend.

We went to lunch and caught up on several things. Both look very well and seem happy with where they are. Shelby is still living in Ohio, and apparently her mom moved out there near them. Sarah moved to Columbia, Illinois, just across the river. They both have two kids, and I've gotta tell you, Shelby's kids are the cutest little tykes ever (with three important exceptions, of course).

I updated them on all of you, in case you were worried that Shelby and Sarah didn't have the latest information. They said to tell you all "hello" as well.

As far as Saturday morning phone calls go, they don't get much more unexpected. I hadn't seen Shelby in at least five years, and Sarah longer than that.

More Hair

I think the boys look even cuter with longer hair. Keep sending pictures and I'll let you know when it's time get them a haircut.

AJ went fully in for the first time today. Austin sat on the steps and splashed around. Nate splashed on the first step then decided to ride bikes instead. The water is still a little chilly at 75 degrees, but the pool is usable. Can't wait til Austin can really get in there!

OUCH!!

Here's one of the Xrays.. looks to me like he broke the bone all the way through. Doc today says to xray him in 3 weeks to check the progress. So far, so good.

Austin update

Austin's doing much better. The big boys are back to fighting again, so all is kind of back to normal. He's been complaining today of some pain in his arm, but refuses any meds. Also, if he gets to walking too much, his back starts to hurt. The cast is heavy and bulky and he compensates by walking kind of crooked. He's also pretty irritable, but that's part discomfort, frustration, and not sleeping well (remember he can't suck his thumb).

Last night he woke up screaming in pain... I don't even think he was fully awake. I asked him where it hurts- thinking it may be a muscle cramp- and he screamed, "WHERE IT BROKE!!" I forced some Ibuprofen down his throat and after a good 20 minutes of screaming, he passed out for the night.

We have a doctor appt tomorrow for his surgical follow-up. Hopefully everything is set properly and he's starting to heal. Hopefully we won't need anything much more to get this done.

One of dave's co-workers owns a bakery and made this "Get Well Soon" cookie cake for Ozzy. SWEET!

Happy Birthday Nathan!!!

Nathan started saying, "NO! NO! NO!" today.. Brilliant!

Tonight we're having Little Caesars for a birthday party, followed by chocolate cake and presents from Grandma & Papa. Nate is walking really well now and is VERY fast and dangerous. He almost doesn't crawl at all anymore.

I put shoes on him today for the first time- but he couldn't walk in them! More pix will be posted later.
