Birds and Fish... oh MY!

That's right... we went to the zoo AGAIN! AJ got a little bird he named Tata (you can see it in the first pic). We pet stingrays, we saw key deer, florida panthers, poison dart frogs, rattlesnakes, turtles, and manatees! Oh what fun!

Nate discovers Pop-ons!

Grandma bought these for Austin when he was a baby... they were packed away during the move and I just brought them out thinking Nate's finally at the right age!

AJ's frog buddy

AJ caught this baby frog on the porch and let him out in the grass. Austin caught a lizard and did the same, but I wasn't fast enough to get a pic of that one..

A couple from Arkansas

These are pix from when we went to Arkansas June 30th. The one of Austin's back shows his NEGATIVE skin prick test (showing no reaction to peanut protein on the skin). The other was on the plane on the way home. Sorry these took so long to post- I just found them in my phone.

Nate's been a little sick..

Nate has a cold and is teething (the molars are coming in and it HURTS). He's snotty and having trouble sleeping and VERY crabby. AJ's not feeling so well either- same cold. Well, even though he's been a bit clingy and grumpy, Nathan still managed to smile a little for the camera...

Went to the Museum of Science

Here is a pic of Nate and AJ prepped for the "Hurricane Experience". We were blown with very strong winds! Austin opted out. AJ loved it. Nate's ear muffs flew off (and it was LOUD in there)- and he started screaming and punched me in the face!

Thank you for all the beautiful flowers for my birthday.....I got purple roses and lavender flowers with a teddy bear from Austin, AJ, Nato, Mom and Dad. A wonderful spring bouquet with yellow roses, carnations, mums and daisies from Mike and a smiley face cup with red, white, yellow and blue spring flowers from Les. The house smells great! Grandpa and I are going to the steakhouse at Harrahs tonight for a FREE meal. We'll be thinking of all of you as we enjoy our steaks and prime rib.

These are the shoes AJ asked for when we went shoe shopping today.... cute, huh?

We went to Longhorn for dinner tonight. Austin asked what I was eating and I said, "ribs.. I think cow ribs". So Austin explains, "well, they get a cow, then open him on the side, then take out the ribs, then put it on a truck, then bring it here (to Longhorn), then they put salt and pepper on it, then cook it, then bring it out on a plate and then it's ... CHICKEN!"

Progress Report

Well, June 30th was the day that Austin reached 1800mg in the Peanut Study. It's a milestone... it's his max dose and he will remain on this for 1 year.

We received Austin's RAST (blood test) results today. For reference, anything 2 or more is considered a "allergic". The smaller the number, the better.

• Sept 2006, Austin's score was 79.
• January 2008, Austin's score was 27.6
• June 2008, Austin's score is 12!!!

This is amazing progress. It should also be noted that in June Austin tested NEGATIVE on all his skin prick tests- even the 100% peanut protein spot.

We've been informed that after our 4 month followup in October, Austin will be switched to an actual FOOD that has peanuts in it- a Reeses PB cup, Peanut M&M's, or Peanut Butter M&Ms. When I told Austin about this, he cried. As you can expect, he's scared of peanuts. He's been programmed all his life to avoid them, and now he's being told to eat it every day. Over the course of the next few months, we'll work on de-programming him.

Long Day at the Movies...

We went and saw the 2:00 show of WALL*E. Fantastic movie with an absolutely hilarious short little cartoon in front of it. A.J. got home and went right down for a nap. Dinner time rolls around, and, well...you know how it goes.
