This is totally BORING, but I'm gonna tell you anyways. So yesterday we get a note from the county that says our water usage is unusually high.. like we normally use somewhere between 5000 and 9000 gallons a month. So far this month we've used about 34,000. Ok, WTF? We weren't even home for a WEEK of this month!! To give you an idea of how much water that is, our POOL holds about 9000 gallons. So that's a LOT of freaking water.
Anyways, after a day of freaking out and trouble-shooting the problem, it turns out that we have a rupture in our sprinker line. The good news is that we have a nice green patch of grass. The bad news is that it's on the SIDE of our house, you can't see it, and it'll cost us about $900 in water AND we have to pay for repairs on top of that.
Needless to say, we're going to put a big bow on it once it's fixed and give it to Nathan for Christmas. sigh.

Do you have a shut off valve for the entire sprinkler system? Turn it OFF until you can, at your leisure, get the rupture fixed. I guess you've probably already thought of this and done it. So much for me being a help.
